On 4th July 2025, Russia hit the city of Kyiv with a record missile and drone attack which killed 2 and injured 26 more.
The State Emergency Service said on Telegram that the attack caused the partial destruction of a five-storey building, covering an area of 2,000 square metres.
‘Fires also erupted in a warehouse building, on the premises of a car service station, and in a garage cooperative. A large amount of civilian infrastructure has been damaged,’ in the Solomianskyi District, it said.

In the Sviatoshynskyi District, a further ‘fire broke out in a 14-storey residential building due to a direct hit,’ it continued, adding that there were ongoing efforts to extinguish multiple fires in non-residential buildings.
Shevchenkivskyi District also faced drone attacks, with an uninhabited eight-storey building under fire.
The State Emergency Service also reported that debris from enemy UAVs was recorded falling in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi Districts, and that information about casualties was being clarified.

‘More than 450 rescuers and nearly 100 units of emergency equipment from the State Emergency Service are involved in dealing with the aftermath of the shelling in Kyiv,’ it added.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Twitter that there were more than 500 Russian attack drones and missiles, but ‘a significant number were shot down.’
‘Interceptor drones demonstrated important performance today and we are scaling up to the hilt,’ he added.
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko said in a Telegram post that air defence forces were operating in the capital.
‘Enemy UAVs are approaching the city from multiple directions,’ he added, before urging citizens to ‘stay in shelters.’
