The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that it conducted a raid in Aleppo, Syria which resulted in the death of senior Islamic state leader Dhiya’ Zawba Muslih al-Hardani and his two adult Islamic state-affiliated sons Abdallah Dhiya al-Hardani and Abd al-Rahman Dhiya’ Zawba al-Hardani.
CENTCOM said that the individuals posed a threat to US and Coalition Forces, and to the new Syrian Government.
‘We will continue to relentlessly pursue ISIS terrorists wherever they operate,’ said Gen. Michael Kurilla, US CENTCOM Commander, on 25th July 2025.
‘ISIS terrorists are not safe where they sleep, where they operate, and where they hide. Alongside our partners and allies, US Central Command is committed to the enduring defeat of ISIS terrorists that threaten the region,’ he said.
Earlier in the year, CENTCOM forces backed allies in operations in both Iraq and Syria, in support of an ongoing Defeat ISIS campaign.
These missions resulted in two Islamic state operatives being killed and two detained including an ISIS leader.
Several weapons were also recovered.
In March 2025, CENTCOM conducted an airstrike operation with the Iraqi Intelligence and Security Forces which killed the global Islamic state chief of operations and the Delegated Committee Emir, Abdallah Makki Muslih al-Rifai, as well as one other Islamic State operative.
